Esc Key not working

I made a post yesterday and after reading again, it looks vague.

I am on a mac for two days. Installed VMWare Fusion which is the mac to pc software which allows me to install windows as a virtual machine and run all my pc apps. Excel is where the trouble is.

When I active a cell (F2) and at any other time, my escape key does not work. This is happening on the apple keyboard and the pc keyboard.

Does anyone know the equivalent to ESC with different key strokes?
