    Default 1/2 symbol

    Hi Gang,

I have a problem. I copied and pasted from a website some numbers and rather than, for example, 3.5, it is using a 1/2 SYMBOL
    -3
Therefore, in excel, I am unable to do any calulations because excel is reading the symbol and I am getting a "Value" error.

Is there any way to correct this? If not, I am going to have to manually change around 5000 of these to the decimal format.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

    Hi,

You could do a find and replace:

    Ctrl + H:

    Find What:
    Replace With: .5

The quickest way would seem to me to go Edit/Replace on your worksheet, and change to .5

I've just done it in a blank sheet, and it retained the number format okay.

    Hope that helps,
    Let me know if not

    Edit: too slow :p
