When working on a spreadsheet I try to copy and paste and the message "cannot open clipboard" pops up. This happens in all different sheets and files. Computer was reloaded and it works for a while then happens again. If I restart it works for a while again and then comes back. This is a windows 2000 workstation.

A little more info is required. What are you trying to copy? The Clipboard has a limit of 4MB. This may be part of the problem. Have a look at this Microsoft article to see if anything rings a bell:
