Links to other spreadsheets are not updating automatically in Excel 2010

I want to create 3 spreadsheets. 2 ('Control') spreadsheets that are updated by different people on separate computers and that link to a 3rd spreadsheet (the 'data store'). The data on the 2 control spreadsheets should update automatically to reflect the latest values in the datastore spreadsheet.

So you should be able to change a value in Control 1 and this should feed through to the Datastore spreadsheet which will, in turn, link back to the Control 1 and Control 2 spreadsheets.

I have created these 3 spreadsheets but the values don't update unless the Datastore spreadsheet is saved and the links on the Control spreadsheets are updated by going to 'Data' - 'Edit Links' - 'Update Values'.

I was hoping this would happen automatically without the need to manually update anything.

I have:
-calculation set to Automatic
-'File' - 'Options' - 'Trust Center' - 'Trust Center Settings' - 'External Content'- 'Security settings for Workbook Links' set to 'Enable automatic update for all workbook links (not recommended).
-In the ''File' - 'Options' - 'Advanced' tab, I have 'When calculating this workbook' - 'Update links to other workbooks'

Is it possible to do this in Excel? I am using Excel 2010. If this method doesn't work is there some other way of sharing data dynamically between spreadsheets?

Thanks in advance.

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
