Is there a way to get a file out of a zip file directly without having to save the file to the drive and then read it in?

I'd like to be able to directly access an archive of files. I only need to read...I don't need to edit/delete files.

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Not sure about winzip, but with power-archiver you launch the file without having to extract it.

Hi,

is it possible to zip the current file (MIM.xls) into MIM.zip in the same directory? so the file should be saved first and then be zipped.

I'm using Power archiver:

"C:\program files\powerarchiver\powerarc.exe"

I can't change to winzip. any ideas what the code migth be like?
