how can i protect workbook so people cant just turn"see tabs" option on?
Tools | Protection | Protect Workbook. Make sure structures checkbox is checked. Put in a password.
thanks for really quick reply...i did that and it allowed me to go to tools and show tabs without asking for password ...is that because i am the author?
ps i have also protected worksheets (all options ticked)
pps if i protect workbook and tick windows, it makes the application open up as really small size...
You are trying to not allow people to see hidden sheets right? What version of excel are you using. I went to tools and dont see a show tabs option. I'm running excel 2002.
ms excel 2000
tool => options => [view] => sheet tabs
any ideas for me?
I see now. There is no option to do this, though with vba you could probably delete that option from the excel menu, but that would be tricky and you might mess up the users system.
What are you trying to accomplish? Do you not want people to be able to select other sheets? If so just hide them and protect the workbook. Or are you trying to do somethine else?
ive set up a demo which basically uses simple VBA to go from one page to another
however ideally dont want people to have a look round by just going to tool and enabling the tabs to be seen
Hide all the sheets but one.
In your code where you are selecting the other sheets put
sheets("Sheetnamehere").visible = true
Sheets("sheet that was visible here").visible=false
This way only one sheet is visible at a time and the user can'e select any other sheet.
thanks very much will do that, am off now
have good day/evning
