Hello Everyone

I am struggling to find an answer on the forum of how to rank multiple criteria if some of the criteria is (the higher the score the better) and some (the lower the score is better). Here is an example of what I am after:
A</SPAN>B</SPAN>C</SPAN>D</SPAN>E</SPAN>F</SPAN>G</SPAN>
Name</SPAN>Score 1</SPAN>Score 2 </SPAN>Score 3</SPAN>Score 4</SPAN>Score 5</SPAN>Rank</SPAN>
Joe Bloggs</SPAN>66.67</SPAN>100</SPAN>0</SPAN>3.61</SPAN>4.80%</SPAN>
John Smith</SPAN>80</SPAN>66.67</SPAN>50</SPAN>3.13</SPAN>3.20%</SPAN>
Clark Kent</SPAN>27.77</SPAN>75</SPAN>100</SPAN>3.76</SPAN>10.40%</SPAN>

<TBODY>
</TBODY><COLGROUP><COL><COL span=6></COLGROUP>

So Column B to E (score 1 to 4) the higher the figure the better, Column F (score 5) the lower the percentage the better. I want a way of ranking the individuals based on these scores and if possible for the formula to work in both excel 2003 & 2007 as I have to use both.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and many thanks for reading my post.

Regards

Ian

Excel Facts

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
If all score have the same weight, you come to the value of 10 (in all 3 cases).

That means all values rank the same.

Hi

Thank you for replying to my post.

When I tried to work it out manually that is the result I got so I will need to add some weighting. The first three scores would need to be weighted the same, the last two scores I will need to devise a way of weighting them differently and to have a slightly higher weighting.

If you have any suggestions of how to accomplish this in excel I would appreciate it.

With rank per categorie.

for the last categorie I used VLookup to get the right result.

After that I summed the values.

Those last summed values are ranked again.

See the link to a dutch free site.

Hi

Thank you for your reply, this worked great when I expanded it for the whole list of data I had.

Thanks again
