I'm using the following macro to load a text file but i would like to only load records where the 1st two positions = 28. I don't know where to add a condition into this macro.

Sub MacroVSTAT()

Hello,

Can you not just add code to go through all rows then delete the row if the two cells don't add up to 28?

Code:
    For MY_ROWS = Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row To 2 Step -1
        If Range("A" & MY_ROWS).Value + Range("B" & MY_ROWS).Value <> 28 Then
            Rows(MY_ROWS).Delete
        End If
    Next MY_ROWS

I'm not familar with VB at all. I generated this code manually generating this macro. I'm loading a txt file from our state and i only need out counties data. Our county number is 28 which is the first two positions of the text file. I was thinking if i could just add and if POS:1-2 <> 28 get next record. Just have no clue. Now i'm going through the txt file and manually deleting all the unwanted records. Very time consluming.

Hello,

two ways to do this:

1: If you have a table heading (e.g. Row 1), you can use AUTOFILTER, select the column which you want to filter on, select DOES NOT EQUAL and enter 28. Select, the data that is left in the table, press F5, select CUSTOM, select VISIBLY CELLS ONLY, right click the mouse, and select DELETE. Then just un-filter.

2: When I imported the text file col A had either 27 or 28, so just add this code, just before the END SUB of your code.

Code:
For MY_ROWS = Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row To 2 Step -1
        If Range("A" & MY_ROWS).Value <> 28 Then
            Rows(MY_ROWS).Delete
        End If
    Next MY_ROWS

Does either of these work properly? (or have you done it manually by now!)
