Having specified the table_array, why do I then have to specify the col_index_no?

Are there circumstances where it is advantageous to have the col_index_no less than the last column of the table_array?

Always wondered if I was missing a trick here.

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
It will always be column 2 for a 2 column table but the table could have more columns.

FDor instance, the left hand column might be a personnel number and then the nother coluimns could be, last name, first name, date of birth, nation insurance number etc etc. Depending on which information you wanted to look up you would change the column number to find it.
