Autofilter a list.

Basic Excel Question here:
I want to create a list of peoples names and then filter it so that one persons name can be selected from that list. When I create the list and then autofilter I get a dropdown box showing my list of names and "all, top 10, custom". However, when I choose a name out of the list it does not get filtered out.
So, if my list were "Amy, Becky, Cathy, Dave" and I select "Dave" what iI see is that "Amy" is still at the top of the list and "Dave" appears below "Amy". How do I fix this?

Are you creating a List from Menu Data>Validation, or you are Doing Data filter using Menu Data>Filter > Auto Filter?

I am doing the Menu Data>Filter>Autofilter.

Do have any blank rows in between your data?

If yes, check you work after removing the blank rows.
(To remove blanks rows in this case: Sort your data on key column)

Okay..I figured it out. I can filter using the Valdiation now and the list works. Thanks so much for your help, Yeheya!
