If the games are QBasic or QuickBASIC .bas files, you will, almost certainly, have to load QBasic or QuickBASIC first, then, from within those BASIC-based programs, you will have to open the file to run the game.
If the games are QBasic or QuickBASIC compiled files (.exe files), then, you can run them in any Windows environment that still uses DOS as its base. Windows XP does not suport all the functions that were available in DOS, notably the SCREEN statement. So, .exe programs that use the SCREEN environment - virtually all game programs - will NOT run in XP. In fact, .bas programs will not run in QuickBASIC either, if you are using Windows XP, for that same reason.
About the only recourse left for XP users is to rewrite the BASIC-based code into Visual Basic code. VB DOES run very well in any Windows, including XP.
