Cant manage to build a formula to sum up values in many rows, using a criteria.

Hello.

I have a table, in which I have a row of numeric value, and underneath it a row of text, and then again more pairs of rows as such, underneath.
I'm looking for a formula to sum all cells that have underneath them the letter 'a' (just as an example). (in the small example below, the answer will be 85).
I can do it only for one pair of rows using SUMIF, but I can't seem to find a way to do it for a big table, with many pairs of rows such as these.
I'd be very happy if anyone can help.

Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
