I have a new laptop and I am sure I need to get another hard drive with more speed. I presently have 6 gigs of memory and an I5 2.6 Ghz. I am doing a LOT of number crunching and have several sheets linked together. It takes almost 30 seconds once I put say a number in a cell for it to catch up.

What can I do to get my computer to move faster? If I need a different laptop, no problem....just want to know what I can do and purchase

Thanks

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
How many rows are there in each sheet and how man sheets are there ? Are you running any code as well, as if you have a huge chunk of code that had to calculate something before it moves on to the next section than that might also be slowing it down.

And i5 should be sufficient for almost most things on excel, unless you are crunching some serious data.

Try a few of these and see if they help in any shape or form:
