Does this error make sense?

You really can't get any simpler than this code:

Private Sub List165_Click()
Me.Text0.SetFocus
Me.Text0.Text = Me.List165.Value  'ERROR HANGS HERE
Call Lookup_Loan
End Sub

Yet, I'm getting this error:
"The Macro of function set to the BeforeUpdate or ValidationRule property for this field is preventing MS Access from saving the data in the field."
The Text0 box is being populated, but it errors-out. I tried a compact/repair, but I must be missing something.

Any ideas?

Me.Text0 = Me.List165.Value

seems to work...

I wouldn't mix ".Text" and ".Value" in the same equation.
