I have a list of names in a Excel worksheet located on drive U and I want to create a dropdown list in a particular cell in a Excel worksheet located on drive E. How do you set this up by using the validation feature in Excel 2000.

As far as I know validation can't be done in 2 different worksheets but one way you could do this is link the sheet on drive Q to the One on drive E and bring the information in to the sheet on drive E and make your data validation from that where MD is on this sheet is the validation and the data in A is comming from an other workbook

The instructions do not relate to different drives, but theoretically it seems possible. There are two things to note: 1. The file on drive U must be open for the validation to work in the file located on drive E. 2. The list in the file on drive U must be a named range. HTH Mike |
