I am using a .xls file for a database that my control routine opens up to sort or pull data. Can I make this database .xls file open as a hidden workbook and if so, how would I code it?

In the file you want to hide click Window, Hide. When you close Excel itselt it will ask you if you want to save changes to that workbook - say yes. Then when you next open the file it'll be hidden but you'll still be able to use formulae and add/retrieve data from it. Does that do the trick?
