Hallo
In Lotus 1-2-3 you use to be able to write comments in cells along with numbers by placing a ; after the number ie 234 ; this relates to sales dec this would show up as 234 but you could see the comments when you highlighted the cell Is there a way of doing this in Excel - without using the "add comments" Hope this makes some sense Thanks Mikey |

If you're looking for a keyboard shortcut, SHIFT+F2 will let you create/edit a comment. When you are finished, press ESC twice.
If you want to delete a comment, SHIFT+F2, then press ESC once, then press DEL. Does this help you?

Another trick for documenting is to use the N function. For instance, you might enter in a cell ="Some Number or Formula" + N("This is my comment"). Tne Number or formula will dispay. The comment part will only be visible in the formula bar.

I was hoping to have to not use the comments box cause they are just a bit annoying to use.
Thanks for the short cut though - that does help out. Mikey |
