Accessing data in Access from Excel

Excel Facts

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
You need to import the data to Excel. If you try to open an Access database using Excel, you will get an error message telling you this that will also tell you how you can import the data into Excel.

Thanks for your help.

In fact, I need to access data that is an Access Data Base, without going every time thought the process of importing data.

It seems to me that this is impossible ...

How is it impossible?

If you use Get External Data you can set it up so data is refreshed, day when the workbook opens.

I don't know if it helps, but if you store the data in Excel, you can link the Excel tables to Access. The advantage there is that you don't have to do any importing or refreshing. It is all automatic.

Excel and Access can also access data stored in DBF files, if that is of any use to you.

You are helping me a lot!

I hope I am not asking too much.

I need to bring to Excel one row from a table stored in Access (to search a row based on some input).

All the logic and calculations are stored in the Excel.

Hello Osmar,
You can import just one row in Access to Excel providing you know what's in the first column in that Access row.
Example:
In Access you have a phone directory set up like this:
LastName...........FirstName..........PhoneNumber
Carter................Tom..................888-111-2222
Willis..................Bob..................888-111-3333
etc...........
It is possible from Excel to type in a cell "Carter" and get in the next column the "Tom" and in the next column the "888-111-2222
without having to import the whole Table to Excel or link to the Table in Excel.

What you cannot have is a Lookup in Excel to choose the name you wanr to import from Access in Excel.

If that's what you want and keep in mind that if you have duplicates in the first column in Access such as "Carter Tom" and let us say "Carter William" the thing will not work for you because again you cannot choose which "CaRTER" you want to import to Excel the yes it is doable.

In other words the info in the first column in Access has to be unique.

If this helps post back and I will post the code I borrowed from God knows whom in this Forum.
