Percentage function

Hi all,
New boy having fun on Excel here - it's driving me nuts!!

Trying to find a function to work out percentages but without luck so far - I have a sum at the bottom of a column of numbers (currency format) & in the cell under that I want to have it calculate 5% of that figure. I'm sure it's got to be real simple?

Try this in the cell:

+a30*.05

where a30 is your cell with the sum.
