I have named a cell to act as a bookmark. I now wish to cahnge the name of the cell but going through the same process as initially nameing the cell does not seem to work.

I am using Excel 2000

Any suggestions

delete the name and rename it

Do you mean you gave a name to a cell thru the Name Box on the Formula Bar?

Deleting and re-naming does not work.

Yes I used the name box on the formula bar

Activate Insert|Name|Define.
Select the culprit.
Click Delete.
Click OK.

Now you can give the cell another name either via the Name Box or Insert|Name|Define.
