I thought I was doing something smart. I put the document on our corporate intranet. I wanted to eliminate server bloat that comes with people saving an attachment everyday in the e-mail server. However, when we sent each employee an e-mail it allowed them to use the drop down filter arrow to select tasks against their name. If they wanted to change anything, for what ever reason they could, but it never changed the original document on my hard drive. Now that it is on the intranet, I do not want them changing the master document, but when protected, they can not filter for their name. I believe I can select certain columns (containing their names) and unprotect them, which should allow them to filter, but it would also allow them to change the name therby shifting a task to a coworker. You know sometimes they are such pixies! Any guidance? |

have you tried forcing the file to be read only? then they can't save over the master file.
