I created a "box" to enter lengthy text comments by merging numerous cells (10 columns across and 7 rows down). Formatted the merged area to wrap. Everything works great until about 1,100 characters are entered, and then text stops wrapping. Doesn't matter how wide or tall I make cells... it won't display all the text. I tried formatting with shrink-to-fit and tried combining more cells in the merged area, but the same result occurs.
Any ideas? |

depending on what version of excel you have i think you've hit the character limit. could you use a text box (drawing toolbar)instead?

Do you REALLY need all that text in one cell ? you could use more than one that "appear" as one...
Or you could use a Textbox, as anno suggested. |

Juan Pablo G./Anno-
Thanks for the quick replies. Text box is not an option, as I'm using webquery to pass the data from excel into a database. Also, the answer is yes to do we really need the all that data. I'm using Excel 2002, but am confused about the character limitation: since I've combined 70 cells, doesn't that increase the limitation to 255x70? Again though, I am not running into a limitation re: entry; it's the dispalay that I can't seem to show. |
