Is there a way around the error message that I am getting?
"Microsoft Excel cannot make this change because there are too many row or column items. Drag at least one row or column field off the pivottable, or to the page position. Alternatively, right click a field, and then click hide or hide levels on the shortcut menu." I have data consisting of 3818 rows and 7 columns. I need all of the data, so I can't cut any of it out. Is there a way to get MS to accept the amount of data and give me my Pivot Table??? Thanks, Jason |

Hi:
You're where I was a couple of weeks ago. Now I have a new problem with PT re: my recent PT Post. Have you tried moving the Field to the Page Area (layout)? I did that for Data I absolutely didn't need and it worked ok. Also, you might try a Pivot Table feeding off a PT which is still new to me. Mike |

Thanks, Mike, for the suggestions.
I wound up eliminating a field that I did not absolutely have to have and was able to make the PT work. I'll have to look at the PT within a PT and see what that's all about. Sounds intriguing. Thanks again, Jason |

I guess there's no way to get around that, eh?
I'll have to go look at that info. Thanks for the information. Jason Dallas, TX |

One good thing about dragging the fields you don't use to the page area is they're always on the desktop, which means you and your customers can get to them real quick without needing any PT training. I keep all my fields there and just move them around when I need them--very convenient.
