I work in a small tool hire shop and we have dificulty in tracking the dates that machines are hired for. I know a little about excel and I can create a list of dates for each machine but others in the shop are not computer literate.
Can I create a macro that can be run by anybody to enter the machine number and dates to he hired. And create a chart of some kind to show when an item is out on hire. The problem is that notes are left for me to input and these notes sometimes get lost. Derek Kindly informed me about conditional formatting and this worked to a certain extent in that it will colour the cells up until a return date and mark the return date. The problem is I am trying to set up a monthly chart to show when machines are out on hire. If somebody wants to hire a machine for 3 days at the end of the month, then the conditional formating shows the machine as being on hire from the start of the month to the return date. Some machines are hired for only 1 day some for a week at a time. Can this be done or am I asking for the impossible. Thanks in advance for help offered. Gary |

Hi Gary,
you may need to post some concrete examples of your current data ie : Column A (dates) 14/7/2001 15/8/2001 17/5/2001 15/8/2001 17/5/2001 15/8/2001 17/5/2001 Column B (machines) SAW2 SAW3 SAW3 PLANE1 STEAMER PLANE2 "How can I show dates less than 20 days from *whenever* in column C" etc etc [describing our different work situations often doesn't translate as easy as the language of Excel which is columns, rows, data and a goal..... a language we all speak !!] Flagged you up to the top of the list also |
