network drives

I have people that access shared files on a server named "SANSRV07".

I have macros & links that uses the Path s:shared..............

However personnel outside the city have SANSRV07 map as a drive other than S:

I don't see how I can changed my macros/links to read sansrv07:shared... in my EXCEL and ACCESS files, so that everyone can use the same file(s).

I tried using the path:

"\sansrv07shared........" instead
of:
"s:shared......"

but VBA givesme an error when I use \sansrv07 insted of the mapped drive S:

Does any one have any suggestions?

Using the server name works fine here.
I noticed that you substituted "s:" with just the server name "\sansrv07". Where I am working, a virtual drive is always mapped to a folder on a server. So for instance, my s: drive maps to "Amsqo on 'Fe40009'". So I substituted "s:" with "\Fe40009Amsqo", which worked fine. I hope this helps.

To add a simple iptions

OK if access is th eissues create a token ring inside the vast network for this doc.... so access can only be via one location.. seem silly two versions or locations, else theres so odd netword admin to report as poss not what it really is. ie looks like 2 but really one.

or change something like the file name to X....... this will make things unique.

Ive see the above post data before and so would suggest trying it.. but two other ideas..

I use tokens to stop access to my data and so its password protected between me and my friends, ... try the same on S drive
