Calculate (Manual vs Auto)

Some of my spreadsheets are very large and have numerous formulas. I set the calculate to “Manual” so that the formulas only calculate at the user’s command. This allows for rapid entry. The problem is that when I open another small spreadsheet the calculation remains at “Manual”.

I want the large files to open with calc set to “Manual” and the small files to open with calc set to “Auto”. Is this possible without a macro?

If a macro is required, will I be able to automate it to run as the file opens? My macro skills are limited to EXCEL recording the keystrokes and mouse clicks; therefore, I can not write the macrocode. Please give details in your response.

Calculation mode is set for all open worksheets and is determined by the mode of the 1st worksheet opened. See http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q161546 for a detailed description.

Hi --

Mark W is right ...

I only manual esle Excel calculates all day and gets on my wick. You will find taht calc is not needs as often as you think.

I save CTRL+S all the time i need st and hit F9 as needed.

TOP tip... if you have scripts that do a task i add calc to the top of the code.. so dat is good tht means live data (CURRENT) not bad data thtas older data. I work ibn finance and data changes on the spot so refresh is important priotr to reports or debt analysis.
