I created a xlsm file and input the code I wanted it to run in the this workbook section so that it ran when the file was opened. however, I am now using Excel 2007 and am noto sure how to access this file without having the code run. In the other versions you could just hold down the shift key while opening the file but that is not working in the 2007 version. Any help would be appreciated.

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
you could always open excel (new blank blook, not your problematic book).
Set security to High

then open your book with the code and remove the code..
Then set security back to what it was before..

You could also open it in Excel Safe Mode, but then you lose any add-ins you may have, in which Jonmo's solution you wouldn't lose them.

Go to Run or Windows+R and type in excel.exe/safe

And then open your workbook.

Thanks for both of these options. However, I was hoping to find a way to bypass the macro in case I need to edit it for file location purposes. I suppose either of those options will work, but I know with the previous versions of Excel I could open the file while holding down the "shift" key (I believe) which would keep the macro from running for that instance and not have to change security settings multiple times. I'll keep these methods in mind but am hoping for a little more.
