Access Back - Excel Front End???

Hi,

I have recently started documenting our network and server racks. I have decided to try and manage the document by using an Excel front end and Access back end. Not sure if this a great idea as I have no experience accessing data held in Access via Excel. Anyway...

I have created a visual representation of the Racks in an Excel workbook. I would like to be able to click on a Port in the workbook, which would then return the information regarding the port held in the Access database. This information must be updatable.

Is this possible? Pointers, suggestions, etc most welcome.

Thanks in advance for any help.
 

Excel Facts

Quick Sum
Select a range of cells. The total appears in bottom right of Excel screen. Right-click total to add Max, Min, Count, Average.
Sort by date Sort by votes
This tutorial will give you some background on using Excel as a front end for Access.
There will likely be more questions as you get into the project, but it should be a start.
