Can I package XLM macros with Excel 2000?

Having worked with Excel since Version 2 or so, I have a bunch of very handy old XLM macros that I have turned into Add-Ins. And since they are mostly just engineering equations, they work just fine under Excel 2000.

But rather than force everyone who receives one of my workbooks to go through the stork dance of copying my .xlm file into their xlstart folder and doing all the Add-In stuff, I would like to force these routines into an Excel 2000 Template of some kind.

Is there any way to include a hidden XLM sheet in an Excel 2000 Workbook or Template?

This is a belated answer, but yes. Excel4 macro sheets are still supported.

The easiest way to make a template workbook using this is to open Excel, then open your file with the XLMs using File|Open.

This should preserve your macro sheets and convert any module sheets into VBA modules.

Additionally, you can still add Excel 4 macro sheets and Excel 5 Dialog sheets. The easiest way to do this is to right click on a worksheet tab and select "Insert", you should be able to select the Excel 4 or 5 objects there as well.

..and once you have this sheet in you can simply hide the sheet.

It was a lot simpler than I thought it would be, and seems to have worked just fine. (Not often I get to say that after wrestling with an MS product ;.)
