Problem creating linked chart in Word

Hi

I am trying to paste a linked chart in a Word'97 document. However, I get a pop-up in Word saying "Word cannot obtain the data for the Microsoft Excel Chart link." I can create linked tables from the same spreadsheet but all charts get this error. I suspect it may be something to do with a number of old links in the spreadsheet to other files that I seem not to be able to get rid of. Has anyone seen this before?

sounds like first casll is to reset re do the data sources...

then redo the rest ...
