I have one cell. It is is linked to another sheet in the same workbook. The link is corrupted in some way, as it is returning "old" data. However, when I try to change, delete, or type over the cell, excel freezes and I have to end task intask manager. Any ideas?

Have you tried selecting an adjacent cell and then dragging the cursor over ?
In the bottom right corner of the activecell there is a small black square. If you hover the mouse over this square it should cahnge to a black cross. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the activecell over the problem cell. It should clear the cell reference & hopefully solve your problem. |

Hi Iain: Tried all of that stuff. I am still hanging up. Thanks for the idea though.

Send me the spreadsheet and I'll try opening it in XL2002. It's error recovery is very good and if there's a problem in the spreadsheet, it'll usually fix it. Also, give me your version so I can send it back in the correct format.
Also, try copying the worksheet into a new workbook and see if it still happens there. Also try Excel in safe mode and see if the problem goes away. To run Excel in safe mode, click on Start | Run and type 'excel /s' (without the quotes) and press OK. If it works, Excel has minor configuration problems. Since you get two free support calls with the Office suite, you could call Microsoft Support at 425-635-7056 for assistance also.
