creating a file to input to another program

How do I create a file from Excel data to input to another program? I want each line on the spreadsheet to be a line in a data file, with some character (e.g. "%" or TAB)
between the values from the cells.

In the File - Save As dialog, you can select the type of file. Select "Text (tab delimited)". Note that this will only save the active sheet as text.
