My roomate has continued to brag about Excel 97 being a lot faster than 2000, 2002 & XP, when it comes to opening/closing web pages in Excel.
So we decided to race. I quickly coded a small macro that opens a web page, processes one piece of data and then close. We both used the same code. Not only did Excel 97 beat XP, it finished in less than half the time! (The computer running XP has a faster clock then the computer running 97) Is this a common occurence or is there something slowing Excel XP down on my end? Any suggestions on speeding it up? |

Its all in over-head and head-room. That is if you keep track of less things and do less then you will beat the one which does more and keeps track of more.
Granted for your one task both are doing the same thing, but the core applications are night and day. 97 is more compact and keeps track of less behind-the-scenes work, so it is quicker. But, then again it does a lot less. JSW |
