Hi Dan,
Have you tried linking the cells ? ie in the destiniation cell type : =[protectedbook]Sheet1!$A$1 Could you also explain a little more about the proection on the file ? As there must be a dozen different ways to protect a a file it could be any number of things. I you need to get the file un-protected then I should be able to do that for you. Iain |

Hi Iain, The problem with linking, is the information or collums neaded could change, and the original workbook will not be saved with the information entered. The protection I am using is the basic Protect "Sheet" (all checked), Protect "workbook" (windows only). I am trying to supply a "extra" workbook that If someone neaded to create a custom report, the can copy the rows and collums that they nead From my "Protected Workbook" and paste the information neaded in there own .xls file (Unprotected),where they can do what ever. Thx Dan
