I know I've only got Excel 97 but I'm having trouble with validation in a cell which works perfectly until Freeze Panes is applied to the worksheet, leaving the validated cell above the Freeze Panes line and NOT working - any ideas ?

Unfortunately, I believe the only way to stop this is to relocate your freeze point. Have a look at MS support for more details, but I don't think there's a way round it.

If you are freezing the panes from top to bottom it will be a problem when you validate the cell.Solution will be if you havent got any filtering involved in your cell,to move the splitting of the panes further away.It works for me when I was using excel 97 my friend

I think it's probably with the drop-down arrow disappearing when validating with a list, Mark. There's more info here: -
