I am not sure that I understood uou correctly ... in any event, I came up with the following convoluted formula: =IF(SUM(IF(OFFSET(INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(),COLUMN(),4,1,)),0,-4)={"A","B","C","D","E"},1,0))>=1,$X1,"") I am sure the Excel Gurus will come up with some thing straight forward. HTH

Hi Jack,
I'm with Yogi on this one. Where is cell x? Do you mean col x in the same row? If Yogi is on the right track, here is a shorter version: =OR(OFFSET(I7,0,-4)={"A","B","C","D","E","F","G","H"})*$X1 This was placed in cell I7. The OFFSET reference is full relative, so it will adjust as you copy the formula. This should be sufficient if you write the formula to the sheet in VBA =OR(OFFSET(RC,0,-4)={"A","B","C","D","E","F","G","H"})*R1C24 would be the VBA result (adjusting for the double double-quotes). Bye, Jay |
