Since Excel 2000 has been newly installed, every time I open an existing workbook, "Book1.xls" also opens. Driving me nuts! I have nothing in my XLStart folder. I don't see anything in options.....

if you have an excel shortcut icon on your desktop, right click it, go to "properties" then "shortcut" and at the end of the path within "target" add the following onto the end :
/e in '97 this stops the excel logo popping up when you open but it also doesn't bring up a starting book1.xls dunno if this might help...but worth trying I've been using this ever since Jack himself suggested it a few months ago big [ This Message was edited by: Chris Davison on 2002-04-24 15:30 ] |

I only have a quick shortcut on my quick launch toolbar. I clicked properties, shortcut as you suggested, but my Target is not editable and says "Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional".
Thanks for trying!! Any other suggestions? |

Sorry to do as Chirs discribes the bit you need is the path to the exe location, ie the real Excel exe
not the shortcut..
