Dear Mr Excel
I have created a Gantt chart in Excel as indicated in ‘tip of the week’ however I have utilised days instead of years as my unit of measure. I have also included an extra column which shows the number of days between the start and end date and an extra row which displays the approprite day. However I wish to exclude certain days of the week in this calculation i.e. Saturdays and Sundays (Non Working days). Therefore how can this be achieved? I presume the conditional formating will not help in this situation and the weekday function only provides numbers 1 to 7. Is there a formula that can do this, failing that will, a macro be required? Use the NETWORKDAYS worksheet function. Take a look at the help topic for this function.
