Automatic cell width and height.

I am having trouble having cells expand to the required width in excel 97. The cells may only expand for a few lines but not for all of them.

According to this MS Technet article, if you have manually sized the row, it will no longer autofit. You need to select the row(s) and hit Format-Row-Autofit.
