does anyone know how i would automatically add numbers to a column? the numbers need to be in numerical order. i am a beginner, so detailed help would be greatly appreciated!

You could use the Edit | Fill | Series... menu command. Or, enter your starting value in a cell, right click on that cell's fill handle (the little black square in the lower right-hand corner of the cell), drag down to the intended last cell, and choose Fill Series from the popup menu.
