I have tried with this problem once before and got some help from a guy. However. The problem remains and it is an odd one.
I made a workbook in Excel - Office 2000 on my Home PC. I modified this in work on Excel - Office 97. The file works like a charm in 97, but on my home PC it doesn't open. It just hangs. The guy who was helping me on these pages opened it in XP and saved it in different versions, but this didn't help. I have saved the 18 sheets as 18 seperate workbooks on the 97 version and tried opening these in 2000 but to no avail (some opened but only after a good 30 secon hang). I really don't know what to do as essentially I need this workbook for the PC on which it doesn't work. WHat could it be, and what can I do to resolve this problem. Any ideas? Thanks for your help. Have you tried the Microsoft Knowledge base.
Here is one article that might be helpful, if it doesn't, try entering your problem in the Excel 2000 knowledge base search and see if you can find something to help http://support.microsoft.com/search/...;en-us;Q211483 |

such a common question i have never had this so never hands on solved but i lean more and more towards the lowe e97 messes with the 2000 file in some cases..
suggest re make the file in 200 but change the save as to level 97 only not 97-2000 and 85-97 version that default might be and then remember to down grade the save might be worth a try and se if the wkbk opens then backwards ... MS never have solved this.... OK an top idea..do you have formatting that excel 2000 only so 97 kicks it out or something like that... intresting

Hi, thanks. The Knowledgebase didn't really help, and I don't wan to make it again as it took me 2 weeks to make....
I guess I could try bit by bit to make it again. Is there no other solution. It is very frustrating... Thanks Mathew |

Tom, I have been trying to send you the file but it would seem that your account has exceeded the storage limit....
