convert a formula to a number

Ive done it before but forgot! how do I convert a cell which has a formula in it to the value of that formula- ie the number remains but the value disappears

Do you mean copy it and paste it back on itself as a value?

I thought it meant "Your mother blows goats" in Swahili? So that's why everyone's been putting their thumbs up to me when I say it to them. I just got the impression they were impossible to offend...
