Hi all don’t know what happened. Yesterday fine, today not a happy excel. What is happening is I cant even open excel, I click on the icon, and it locks the pc up. I have tried the excel 2000 repair, reinstalled it, and even reinstalled it in another directory. I did notice after installing 97 version first, excel works fine, then when I upgrade, it locks up again. Was wondering if anyone might have had this problem, or if a virus could be doing this. Thx Dan

Try this; careful now!
Start-->Run Type regedit and hit enter. Browse to: hkey_current_usersoftwaremicrosoftoffice9.0Excel Right-click and rename the Excel folder to OldExcel. Close the registry editor and try Excel again. Uninstall/reinstall all you want. If you don't use Eraser 2000 to completely wipe Office from your system, the registry settings aren't changed.

virus ?????? you mention could be, there sould be no doubt, set the checker to FULL PROTECTION 79 vnew virus last week alone this is low in virus standards.
scan deep and scamn full all files. If no checker.. woe be tide. you will fall foul. Always take care my friend.. BTW scan are second nature weekly if you have email or surf, even this site i would not trust, just as i would trust NO site it the only way to think. I add i have NEVER had any issues with this site but my stance is BEWARE and never trust. Thats the safe way. Even if i email you scan it.... FIRST!

In the future, don't rename the whole Excel folder, just rename the options folder that is underneath it.
