Just in the last two days, I have encountered the following problem with Excel 97: When in either Windows Explorer or in Outlook Express, if I double click the Excel file I want to open, all I get are the menu bar and the tool bars. The spreadsheet itself does not appear; I get either the Exploring or Outlook Express screen that was active when I double clicked the file name. This is NOT a problem when I double click on Word files. Sure would appreicate ideas on what to do! Thanks!!

G'day Qroozn
Thanks for your reply. No, the computer doesn't freeze up, per se. I can see that Excel has been opened since the Excel logo comes up on the bar on the bottom of the screen. If I click on the bar to activate Excel, even though I can't se the spreadsheet, the menu bar is active and I can, for example, click on View/Full Screen and then get to see the sheet. Any ideas? Thanks mate! (P.S. Used to live in Sydney -- best place on the planet, by far!) Phil |

I am having the same problem as this gentleman, but with Excel 2002. Any ideas on how to make it work without having to utilize the full screen view?
