I am new to Pivot tables 4 weeks. I have a problem where I extract a table of data from Access 2000. I convert this data to Excel 2000. When I create the layout for my PT one field in particular "Client Names" crashes my PT when I put it into the row field of the PT. When I double click the "Client Names" field I notice that it brings up the numeric Dialogue box. It allows me to put the "Client Names" field into the data field, but not into the Row or Column field. I have formatted the field - text. But am unable to get my client names into the Row field. There are about 45K entries is this an issue. PLEASE help.

Excel does have limits on how mach data can be analyzed by a Pivot Table. 45k would be too much for XL97 (something like #rows x #columns < 65,000), but don't know the limits for XL2000.
You can find out the details from the MS support page (From Excel Help>MS on the web> online support) and search for "pivot table" or "pivot table limitaions" |
