When I want to see which cells are being picked up in a formula, usually I go to the cell, hit F2, and the linked cells are highlighted with a border that is color coded to the cell reference in the formula. Recently, however, I have come across instances where the colored borders do not appear. Does anyone know if this is due to some setting being disabled for the workbook, or for inidividual cells?

Not that I know of. I know that they will not appear if you use the Paste function wizard, for example.
