Does anyone knows how to prevent a spread from being copied?

This may sound dumb, but what I do is put a small file in Windows system files. Then, in a piece of code somewhere in a long macro, I will go check for that file and if it isn't there, I delete workbooks. Wont stop them, but sure will frustrate them trying to figguer out where things went.

Lambada,

do you want to know how to copyright a spreadhseet or do you want to know how to prevent one from being copied ?

(they're not the same thing)

I imagine that copyright procedures vary from country to country also.

Also check out this potentially relevant earlier thread from Tom

Actually, Tom, would you have any updates on this that may be relevant here ?

thanks and

Yes Chris,
After doing a bit of digging, it was apparent that my company had full rights to everything. Even my standalones. So I handed it over and the pros at the IT department slammed my code and said it did not work. Well seeing we have been using it locally for almost 9 months my project manager begged to differ and has been swinging as big a bat as he can. My company has a huge IT department with the huge egos to go along with it. Because I am a lowly truck driver, I cannot even get a NT username or Lotus Notes Mail. P&G is a fairly new customer and they use the same setup all over the world for our type of operation. I seem to be the only person in my company who knows P&G's system and the various programs and their object models. Anyway, for now, nothing is happening. Apparently that paper degree is heavier than current results???
Personally, I don't give a rat's #$@.

Be careful MOST and all the guys i knopw are contracted to open sorce ANY work, if developement staff this is un forgivable, my company have links tyo govenment requirements in second step so its critical.

Even the sill VBA and designs i do, if asked i MUST give codes and open docs to, no excuse to ive locked it

but i geive it all aways anyhow and see it emailed arround the office and world most days..

just get used to that...

ALSO you cant re produce work IE if you do A for Co A you can do A for Co B

*sigh*

Tom.... see, there's one type of ego that just feels the need to slam your efforts, and then there's the other type that says "wow...let's reward this guy..."

I remember ages ago reading a book my Mark McCormack (something about Harvard or something) where the CEO had sent a big acount contract via courier to be signed by their clients.... anyhow, the courier guy had an accident and the contract wasn't delivered on time, pissing off the clients and potentially putting a big $ account in jeopardy....

when he heard the news, the CEO's first words were "WHAT ????? Is he okay ? is he hurt ?"

The wellbeing of the minimum-wage courier guy took priority for this CEO in the immediate term than the timing of the delivery of the client contract.....

Some people recognise "people", others just see profits n stuff...

*sigh*

That was probably because he did not have a back-up.
