I imported a text file and excel displays the hh:mm:ss time as a floating point number. How do I fix this? I have tried formatting the cells as a Time value in the hh:mm:ss format. When I click on the cell, the edit bar at the top shows the correct time, but the cell shows the internal time format.
Thanks! [ This Message was edited by: newmember on 2002-05-13 13:36 ] |

Though I'm not sure of your problem, text files freqently need some data tune-up. Try highlighting the column containing the floating point number. Then, from the DATA menu, select TEXT TO COLUMNS. Just click FINISH. Does that help? |

I'm guessing that you somehow toggled the display formulas option. Press Control+` [on the tilde (~) key].

Sir Mark,
you are correct. [Ctrl+`] toggled the "problems" back and forth. I must find more info on this Ctrl+` stuff. Thanks |
