My wife works in a bank. They store lost of infor in excel. The information in the first 60 lines or so of this particular excel sheet uses the columns to keep the information spaced correctly. There is not much information in each cell. Below that, they enter lines of information which are so long that they scroll off the page and onto the next printed page. This is a mess when they print it. If they format the cells with the long, typed information to "wrap" the text, it all appears in column "A" instead of line 134 (or whatever). If they widen the column, the lower portion does what she wants but the formatting for the upper portion is ruined.
Is there a simple way to make this work? Thanks Bob |

I am a bit unsure how your worksheet is layed out, but could you merge cells together to meet your objectives? To merge cells together, highlight the cells and then click on the merge and center symbol (the "a" with two arrows) on the same tool bar as the font.
If that does not work, please post back and some kind person will come up with a different solution. |

Selecting the required width, merging the cells, wrapping the text, and setting the vertical alignment for "top" gave us what we wanted. At least I think it did. Will know for sure when she tries it at work tomorrow.

Hi wolferd1 and Pinball:
You may also want to consider EDIT|FILL|JUSTIFY This is the way it works. Suppose you have a piece of text in one or more lines that are too long, say in this case the text spans from say column A to M, and you would like the text to be spread over a span that extends from column A to J To accomplish this, you would highlite, the text from column A to J, and optionally also over to the number of rows that are expected to contain the newly laid out text, then you will go for EDIT|FILL|JUSTIFY Hope This Helps Please post back if it works for you ... otherwise eplain a little further and let us take it from there! |
