Setting Lastrow

I'm having problems setting my lastrow, instead of getting the row number, I am getting the cell value. Any help appreciated.

Dim lastrow as integer
lastrow = Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A65536").End(xlUp)

Use:

Dim lastrow as integer
lastrow = Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A65536").End(xlUp).Row
